What follows are a number of suggested texts on adult development. Of course, such a list is not intended to be exhaustive; it is intended to be suggestive of the range of materials available on a wide and deep topic. It is intended to offer mentors (and perhaps students) a glimpse of, a first opening into, some key materials that take up "adult development." We fully expect that the list will be expanded and edited over time.

Please note that we are also very aware that many useful texts on "adult development" actually deal with "adult learning" (the divisions are quite blurred).

Many colleagues made contributions to an initial version of this bibliography which will be an ongoing project. Thanks for their important help to Margaret Clark-Plaskie, Eva Ash, Marie Tondreau, Mary Klinger, Nancy Gadbow, Julie Shaw, Brian Gabriel, Suzanne Hayes, Rae Rohfeld, Judy Gerardi, and to our late colleague Frances Murage. While Alan Mandell took final responsibility for this document, Xenia Coulter's work in refining and reframing the present version of this bibliography was invaluable.
