Like the bibliography on adult development, this bibliography on adult learning is necessarily incomplete and contains materials that easily cross-over into the world of adult development. (Indeed, these two bibliographies should be seen as complementary.) The intention here is to offer a range of titles that will be useful as one begins to gain a sense of the scope of the field of adult learning and of the range of topics and themes taken up within it. We fully expect that this list will be expanded, brought up to date, and edited over time.

Many colleagues made contributions to an initial version of this bibliography which will be an ongoing project. Thanks for their important help to Margaret Clark-Plaskie, Eva Ash, Marie Tondreau, Mary Klinger, Nancy Gadbow, Julie Shaw, Brian Gabriel, Suzanne Hayes, Rae Rohfeld, Judy Gerardi, and to our late colleague Frances Murage. While Alan Mandell took final responsibility for this document, Xenia Coulter's work in refining and reframing the present version of this bibliography was invaluable.
