NAFSA: Association of International Educators

Following the success of the inaugural event during the 2016 International Education Week, NAFSA is pleased to announce a call for proposals for a second one-day Research Symposium to be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at NAFSA offices in downtown Washington, DC (1307 New York Avenue NW). 

Submit a Proposal
Paper proposals for the Research Symposium should present original, unpublished research in international education and may focus on topics such as:

  • Assessing and/or measuring global learning outcomes for students and faculty members
  • Integrating peace and civil society discussions throughout international education programs
  • Collaborating across borders for global learning both at home and abroad
  • Promoting international education’s role in addressing international security and policy concerns
  • Utilizing technology or social media for new insights into cross-cultural connections
  • Debating aspects of ‘nationalism’ in relation to international education
  • Broadening civil discussions to include different perspectives
  • Increasing diversity and inclusion efforts through scholarly collaborations within and across disciplines
  • Addressing other topics of interest in international education.

The Research Symposium is a venue for peer review, sharing ideas and information related to research and scholarship in international education. Abstracts will be evaluated according to the originality, clarity, and depth of knowledge demonstrated by the research.

Submission Dates:
Deadline for submissions is February 1, 2017.

Presenters will be notified no later than March 3, 2017.

NOTE: NAFSA will produce an e-publication from a selection of papers presented at Research Symposium events.
